Collection: Clark Estate

The winemaking story of the Clark family began in 1998. In that year, owners Jane & Peter Clark decided to change careers and bought land in the Marlborough area of the Awatere Valley. They started on a green field, where they first started growing Sauvignon Blanc on an area of 8 hectares. They worked hard and learned as they went how to take care of the vineyards. After two modest harvests, the crop was destroyed by spring frosts in 2003. The family faced the harsh reality of managing the vineyard, and when the next 18 months were without any income from the grapes grown, they began to consider quitting. But the story eventually took a different direction. After studies and work experience, son Simon joined their family business. After studies and work experience with harvests in Australia, Germany and New Zealand, he decided to join the family business.

In addition to Sauvignon Blanc (10 ha), Pinot Gris (2 ha) and Riesling (1 ha) are grown on the total area of their vineyards. In 2004, the winery received the New Zealand accreditation of Sustainable Winegrowing ( The Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand ). In 2010, son Simon took over the management of the family winery, continuing the successful period of the Clark Estate winery.
