Greystone Winery has been producing 100% organic wines since 2018. Crop management is done by hand without the use of herbicides, insecticides or systemic fungicides, using organic methods and bio dynamic farming that actively supports the health of the soil and vines.

In 2000 the Thomas family bought an old sheep farm in the Omihi Hills because of the amazing rolling limestone hills. From the beginning, their goal was to create exceptional wines from the unique limestone terroir. Greystone takes its name from the limestone formations found as the bedrock of the vineyards and on which the vine roots grow.

The Pinot Noir variety loves limestone soil. Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürtztraminer, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc are grown on the lower slopes, which thrive in hard, dry clays and gravels.

The first wine was produced here in 2008 and since then Greystone Winery has won many awards and established itself as one of New Zealand's best wineries.
